With our commitment to equity and access to art education, we offer affordable tuition with sliding-scale pricing, meaning you choose what you pay. Don’t let anything stand between you and your creativity! Space is limited especially for our in-person sessions.

We are always mindful of keeping up to date on our COVID-19 policy and procedures  to help keep our students and staff safe as we learn, explore, and create together.

Keep in mind -  Gift Certificates are the perfect way to share the gift of creativity with those you care about!

 

Private Lessons/Mentorships

Preschool ARTventure with Jenny Wright

This preschool-like morning program is designed to promote language development and early literacy development through carefully selected read aloud books that are integrated with a new art project each week.

In order for us to adhere to our capacity limitations, one parent/guardian  may accompany their child.


 


Kids Drawing Marjorie Justine Antonio Full

Let’s draw! Join us for a dynamic weekly drawing and mixed media art class. Participants will learn a variety of art styles, such as self-portraiture, cartooning, and even pixel art. Weekly themes will include superheroes, monsters, pop art, and more.



 

Minecraft Adventures with Luca Dehais

April 28 - June 16 (8 weeks)

Minecraft Adventures is a community space for adventurers to experience Minecraft to its fullest allowing for collaboration, creation, and exploration with peers. 

Under the guidance of an experienced Minecraft player, students will have the support and encouragement to work together to find and accomplish common goals. This learning environment is for kids of all experience levels and all interests.

Access to a Realm and a moderated Discord voice channel for peers to socialize and communicate is provided. Each Student is required to have both a computer/tablet and gaming console or iPad that uses MineCraft Bedrock Edition (Ps4, XboxOne, Switch, IOS). The computer or tablet will be used for the login for class.

Wheel Throwing NEW
with Pegah Shahghasemi and Nick Maletta

Various Dates and Times (10 weeks) • Ages 18+ • In-Person
$325 (includes one 25 lb bag of clay/additional clay available for purchase at registration)

We offer wheel-throwing clay classes at three experience levels. Whether you’ve never touched clay before, or you’ve been throwing for years, our talented teaching artists have the skills to further your abilities. Each session’s capacity is 9 students, allowing for one-on-one instruction in a laid-back environment. Learn techniques of wheel throwing and glazing.

Clay Hand Building with Karen Arrington

April 30 - June 18 (8 Weeks)

Using only their hands and clay tools, students will learn the techniques that will enable them to make 2-3 different styles of vases or utensil holders. They will learn the process of three-dimensional forming, how to join pieces of clay together to build a structure, and various methods of decorating functional pieces. Students with all levels of clay hand-building experience are welcome.


 

Paint, Print, and Create with Ric Garcia

April 26  - June. 14 (7 weeks) No Class May 17th
Wednesday, 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.
$210 Ages 18+ In-person

Explore your creativity in a friendly and experimental environment. Work on guided projects or get inspired and work independently. It’s your time to express yourself while exploring non-traditional painting and beginning rubber block printmaking techniques. Class projects will focus on fundamental art concepts such as composition and color harmony. Drawing skills are not required.



 

(Ages 55+)

Creative Aging

This is a completely FREE program for ages 55 and better!

In keeping with our values of equity and inclusion and our mission to provide opportunities for as many students as possible, we are limiting registration to a maximum of 2 Creative Aging Classes per session per student as demand for these classes far exceeds our current capacity.

Please note our new process. Art kits will be available for virtual participants to pick up at Art Works Now during business hours on April 12 and 13. On April 14 all remaining boxes will be mailed.

Students who receive items they don’t need are invited to donate the supplies back to the Little Free Art Shop in front of the AWN building

“Shake It Up” - Watercolor: Light & Shadow with Tara Holl

April 24  - June 5 (7 weeks) | Monday, 10:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m.| Virtual

We will revisit and utilize many watercolor techniques. However, we will “shake it up” by incorporating these techniques with collage and a bit of mixed media. Color theory will be important in our explorations! We will spend some time getting to know masking fluid and other ways to support white and negative space in our work. No experience is required. Just bring an open mind and heart!


 

Creative Clay with Jennie Sniderman Full

April 27 - June 15  (8 weeks) | Thursday, 10:00 a.m.- 1:00 p.m. | In-Person

Join us for a fun clay-filled journey for students of all levels! This session we will concentrate on throwing on the wheel. Centering and throwing mugs, bowls, and plates will be introduced. We will also learn how to alter round pots to transform them into other shapes. Those who have previously learned hand-building techniques are welcome to continue, but the emphasis of instruction will be on throwing.


 

Intro to Improv with Tavish Forsyth

May 2 - June 13 (7 weeks) | Tuesday, 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.| Virtual

This class is an exploration of improv. Improv is unscripted theater and comedy. It is about moment-to-moment discovery and flexibility. It’s also extraordinarily fun! In this class, students will learn to be confident, creative, and collaborative by finding potential in what is readily available.


 

Creating in the Present - Mindfulness-Based Art with Glennis Muldoon

April 25 - June 13 (8 weeks) | Tuesday, 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.| Hybrid

Mindfulness is the purposeful, non-judgmental practice of paying attention to the present moment. Art can be a meaningful tool to help us build and deepen our connection to ourselves, our environment, and each other which can improve overall well-being. Throughout this hybrid course, students will learn and practice mindfulness skills and apply them to different creative projects each time we meet. Students of any art-making and mindfulness experience are welcome. 

Note: The first 5 classes will be online. The final 3 classes will be held in person. In the event of cancellations for in-person classes due to inclement weather, classes will be held online. Students will be notified of changes in advance.
